57-Acre Park and Nature Area

Where Nature, Play, and Community Come Together

Nestled at the heart of our city, Kemah’s 57-Acre Nature Facility is a tribute to the natural splendor of our coastal region and the strength of our community spirit. With the completion of Phases I and II, this long-envisioned project is becoming a sanctuary where families gather, children explore, and the beauty of the outdoors takes center stage. The park is dog-friendly. However, we kindly request that you keep your dogs on a leash and clean up after them. Waste bags are available near the park's gate.

Kemah’s new nature destination blends timeless outdoor experiences with modern design, offering something for every generation.

Community -Focused Features

  • Monument Signage - A stately entry monument greets you at the entrance,
symbolizing Kemah’s commitment to preservation and family-centered growth. Nearby, a rustic-style picnic shelter anchors the park's entrance and serves as a gathering spot for guests and groups. Enjoy shaded meals beneath the steel-frame pavilion.
  • Playground for all abilities - a fully accessible, nature-themed playground for children ages 5–12. It features the PlayBooster tower, OmniSpin spinner, Sway Fun Glider, We-Saw, and Fox Den Hangouts, all situated in a soft, safe, artificial turf setting surrounded by trees and native plantings.
  • Open Lawn  - Stretch out on the large central lawn—perfect for events, games, and lazy afternoon lounging.

Trails & Natural Beauty

  • 8’ Fitness & Concrete Trails - Thoughtfully laid concrete trails and wider fitness paths weave throughout the property, perfect for walking, jogging, or simply soaking in the scenery.

Future Phases:

  • Boardwalks Over Wetlands- Composite boardwalks with railings will take visitors deep into the heart of Kemah’s wooded wetlands. These tranquil stretches will offer stunning views, bird-watching opportunities, and quiet contemplation.
  • No-Mow Wildflower Mix & Native Grasses - Dotted throughout the park will be fields of native wildflowers and grasslands that welcome bees, butterflies, and birds—enhancing both beauty and biodiversity.
  • Wildlife & Learning Features
    • Outdoor Classroom with Seating - An amphitheater-style classroom nestled into the landscape will host environmental education sessions for local schools and programs.
    • Wildlife Observation Tower & Viewing Platforms -A multi-story tower and wooden overlooks will provide panoramic views of the forest and wetlands—ideal for nature lovers, photographers, and students of all ages.

Rooted in Local Ecology:

The park’s design preserves the land’s natural beauty while enhancing it with dozens of Texas-native species, such as:

  • Trees: Live Oak, Cedar Elm, Bald Cypress
  • Shrubs: Turk’s Cap, Flame Acanthus, Beautyberry
  • Ground Cover & Pollinators: Gulf Muhly Grass, Red Yucca, Autumn Sage

These carefully selected plants not only reflect our region’s charm—they provide vital habitat for butterflies, birds, and beneficial pollinators.

A Natural Legacy for Kemah

This park is more than a beautiful place to visit—it’s a living legacy that honors the land, supports wildlife, and brings our community together in a meaningful way. With scenic walking trails, a vibrant playscape, educational amenities, and space for quiet reflection, the 57-Acre Nature Facility is destined to become one of Kemah’s proudest treasures.
