Jimmie Walker Community Center

Conveniently located near hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues, the Jimmie Walker Community Center is an ideal setting for a wide range of events, including weddings, family reunions, quinceañeras, office retreats, showers, private parties, training sessions, and meetings.

Rentals can be made up to 6 months in advance. 

Rental hours are from 6:30 a.m. to midnight daily. Please note that partial-day rentals are currently unavailable.

Keys may be picked up at the Kemah Police Department (1401 SH 146) and must be returned by midnight on the day of your rental to ensure a full deposit refund.

Reservation Process

  • Check Availability
  • Visit the facility calendar to see if your preferred date is open.
  • Complete the Reservation Agreement 
  • Download and fill out the Reservation Agreement Form, save a copy to your computer.
  • Email your completed form to galfaro@kemahtx.gov
  • Call 281-334-1611 ext. 3006 to confirm receipt and arrange payment.
  •  To confirm your reservation, you must pay the deposit, rental and cleaning fees, and any add-on fees at: City Hall, 141 SH 146, Kemah, TX 77565.

 Your reservation is not confirmed until the City receives payment.

  • Kitchen area 286 square feet with a 3-foot by 11-foot stainless steel center island
    • Two full-sized refrigerators with freezers
    • Two gas stoves with ovens (no cooking utensils provided)
    • Four sinks (no cleaning supplies provided)
    • Two microwave ovens
  • Tables and Chairs*
    • 20 folding 8' x 2.5" rectangular tables (approx. 8-10 people)
    • Five "highboy" bar height tables
    • Four 60" round tables (approx. 6 - 8 people)
    • 160 Folding metal chairs

*The renter or occupant is responsible for ensuring that there are enough tables and chairs for their event.

Rental fees include the use of available tables/chairs, kitchen access, and custodial services. Please note that you are responsible for setting up and tearing down your event. Set-up time is included in your rental time. All fees need to be paid in full at the time of reservation.

Alcohol

Alcohol consumption is permitted on the premises. However, if you plan to serve or allow alcohol at the Community Center, you are required to hire two off-duty Kemah police officers. The officers must be scheduled for a minimum of 4 hours at a rate of $60 per hour per officer.

* Rental fees are waived for the City of Kemah Governmental Functions, Kemah Historical Society, Kemah Kronies, Kemah Garden Club, Kemah Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, and Governmental Agencies (including schools) as well as for events benefiting departments within the City of Kemah. Cleaning fees may be imposed.
