Our concern is for the safety and health of our visitors and employees regarding the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19; we want to reassure you that the City of Kemah has taken several measures to protect you and our employees, and to maintain an uninterrupted level of service that you can rely upon.
To help prevent the spread of viruses, we’ve increased the precautions beyond those that we use each year during flu season. Employees are encouraged to wash their hands often, and we have made hand sanitizer available for visitors and placed in prominent locations.
Some employees in support positions have the ability to work from home or other remote locations, which will help keep operations functioning; IT security is in place to facilitate this work securely.
As another precaution, we have instructed employees not to travel for business outside of Texas.
As always, any employees who are feeling ill are encouraged to stay home, and we have taken additional steps to sanitize work areas, vehicles and tools.
If you’d rather not visit us at city hall, we understand. You can make payments online at kemah-tx.gov or talk with a municipal clerk by phone 281-334-1611 during business hours of Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 a.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
If you do visit us at city hall, you may see signs of additional protective measures. For instance, you may see some employees wearing gloves when handling identification cards, cash and credit/debit cards. And while we’re always happy to see you, we may choose an elbow bump over a handshake for the time being or practice social distancing.
As always, if we need to communicate urgently with you, we can reach you through our website, over our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) by email, text message and phone.
This is an evolving situation, but the City of Kemah remains a safe, sound place to do work and do business. Staying in touch with residents and local businesses is a priority.
