Hurricane Evacuation Route

SH 146 Hurricane Evacuation Plan_Page_1

Hurricane Evacuation Route - SH 146 Corridor

Provided by TxDOT - July 6, 2023

There is one northbound lane paved from Cien Road to FM 518 in Kemah and from Hardesty to 4th Street in Seabrook. The contractor has been preparing these areas to pave the second northbound lane, and is anticipating these areas paved by the end of July. Once paved northbound will remain in one lane, however the second northbound lane will be available for hurricane evacuation.

In the meantime, the attached contraflow plan shows two northbound lanes if an evacuation is needed.

In Kemah -

  • Northbound SH 146 traffic (2 lanes) will be transitioned onto the southbound side just north of SH 96
  • Northbound SH 146 traffic will transition back onto the northbound lanes at FM 2094

In Seabrook –

  • Northbound SH 146 traffic (2 lanes) will be transitioned onto the southbound side at 10th Street north of Clear Creek
  • Northbound SH 146 traffic will be transitioned back onto the northbound lanes just south of NASA 1 and will continue on the northbound side
